Re: OPS Summer Challenge 2014

Summer may not be have fully started yet but the Challenge has!

I have ventured out today to start my Summer Challenge and may have come up with a theme.

Cream Teas at a National Trust property.

I think it might take some practice but after 5 weeks of continued effort on my part I may get one or two decent shots...

Practice makes perfect...

Re: OPS Summer Challenge 2014

Thought it would be nice if members added their efforts on here to brighten up the place!

Here's mine:

I went with the theme of visiting stately homes, village shows and classic car rallies. There is also a running connection to them apart from being traditional summer events and pastimes.

Image 1: Ightham Mote.

The first weekend of the challenge and a visit to a local heritage site. This gent had secured his position whilst his wife went off to explore, he was waiting his turn.

A visit to a National Trust property isn't complete until the cream tea has been finished. How British is that...

Image 3: Tatsfield Art Show.

The middle weekend of the challenge and a visit to a village art show. Typical busyness and hubbub as the ladies get things ready. Summer shows are rooted in village life.

Homemade cream tea and a mug of tea. So much better than the corporate, mass produced efforts now sold elsewhere. All the better when it's free!

Image 5: Pateley Bridge Classic Car Show.

The last weekend of the challenge and I was at a classic car gathering in Yorkshire. We camp for the weekend and folk come from as far away as Scotland, Wales and Kent. This chap comes from Pateley Bridge. A well earned nap after his travels and making camp!

Couldn't find a Yorkshire cream tea but when you're on the road nothing beats an Olympic Breakfast, especially when you've been driving since 4am in the morning.

My Panel:

I approached this totally differently to the norm as I felt the images would be too small cramped onto a pdi. I have gone for a snippet of each image to fill the full screen.

PS. I will let you into a little secret. I had planned to visit different locations and sample their cream teas. As I progressed each tea would have slowly been eaten until the final one was just crumbs.

By the 4th cream tea on the 4th week I had become totally fed up with eating cream teas so had to change my plans. I have also lost 10kg since finishing this challenge...
