Hi,
Recently we had an email from Tonbridge camera club:
I’m sorry to have to advise you that Tonbridge Camera Club is withdrawing from all external competitions with immediate effect save from those run by the KCPA.
We will therefore no longer participate in:
1 MICT / MIPS
2 Tonbridge vs Orpington
3 Tonbridge vs Torbay vs Aperture Woolwich
The reason, quite simply, is an almost total lack of interest by club members. As you’re all too well aware, these competitions take a lot of time to set up – particularly when doing the hosting – and the almost total lack of interest by our members both in attending the competition and ascertaining their own individual scores let alone finding how the club performed, plus the general reluctance of anyone to take over as External Competition Secretaries, means that it simply isn’t worth the time and effort needed to prepare from them.
I hope you understand why the club has reluctantly taken this decision and I hope that I’ve given you sufficient notice so that you can, where appropriate, make alternative arrangements. It is a shame as the Tonbridge competition was a good start to the festive celebrations in December.
OPS will still be participating in external competitions with the KCPA.The most recent OPS vs Invicta friendly away was only attended by myself and the previous year, when we hosted, only 2 from Invicta turned up. I had verbally agreed for us to host a Invicta vs OPS competition on 1st April 2025 (no it's not a joke).
Would there be more interest if these inter-club competitions were on Zoom?
I will contact Invicta shortly to gauge their view.
The 'friendly' against Rotorua, in New Zealand is going ahead, all images submitted, I should get the result in August.
