Weds 17th is winning at the moment as it accommodates most people. See who else expresses interest.

I used a gorillapod mini tripod clone with an adaptor for my mobile phone in the examples I presented. Bollards and litter bins provided the extra height needed.

Not necessarily for the planned night time walk but a number of bridges have been illuminated (from Tower Bridge to Vauxhall Bridge).
As seen on https://www.ianvisits.co.uk/blog/2021/10/15/take-a-trip-along-the-illuminated-river-thames/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=weeklyemailblog

What is said to be the longest art installation in the world can be found in London and is the lighting up of the bridges across the Thames.
Illuminated River isn’t just floodlighting the bridges though, as the lights pulse and change over time to a pattern designed by the artist, Leo Villareal, working with British architecture practice Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands.
Each of the bridges has been lit differently, in part as a consequence of them all being built differently, but also to reflect local areas. So the Millenium Bridge has thin strobes of light flitting across its thin structure, whereas the bridges on either side of Parliament are solidly glowing with Green and Red for the two Houses.

Dedicated boat trips are available for a better view from Thames Clipper boats but only on a few selected dates (not the 17th) Adults £12.50/Conc. £8.50 (fares valid from: 21:30) and may be worth a separate trip. One comment was that the boats were enclosed so difficult to see the illuminations and listen to the commentary.

Hi,

Ok, let's go with Wednesday the 17th November.
Sunset on the 17th is at 16:08, so shall we meet at 3:00PM at Victoria Train station?

Exit via the Victoria street exit and wait on the pavement shown here:

A few potential places of interest, with walking times from Victoria station.
Tate Britain                                             18 minutes
Westminster Cathedral                             5 minutes
St James Park station/Broadway               10 minutes
Birdcage Walk                                         14 minutes

This may help plan photos for the 'blue hour'.

See you on the 17th.

Hi,

Following advice from Barrie, let's meet around 3:00PM at Victoria station, this will give us some time in the dying light to scout out and prepare. Sunset is 4:08PM.

From Orpington station, you can take the 13:52 Orpington to Victoria service, which will arrive at 14:40.
You can also take the 14:22 from Orpington and arrive in Victoria at 15:10.

We'll likely be finished around 5:30-6:00PM, when we can consider refreshments and maybe food and travel home after the evening rush. Don't forget a monopod/tripod/gorillapod to support your camera and warm clothing, current forecast is 9C and cloudy.

See you on the 17th.

Hi,

So who is attending?

The weather is clear and the temperature will be 8-11C, not bad for the time of day and year. Do we want to explore in a group starting from Victoria or diverge into smaller groups and meetup somewhere a bit later?

We can discuss a little bit tomorrow night.

Ian

All good with me, perhaps all meet up at Victoria and then depending upon numbers split off into smaller groups
