Wildlife Photographer of the Year

Brighton Museum & Art Gallery
18 May to 8 September 2019

The world-renowned Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, on loan from the Natural History Museum in London, will open at Brighton Museum & Art Gallery on 18 May 2019 featuring exceptional images which capture fascinating animal behaviour, spectacular species and the breathtaking diversity of the natural world.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year is the most prestigious photography event of its kind, providing a global platform that showcases the natural world’s most astonishing and challenging sights for over 50 years. Launching in 1965 and attracting 361 entries, today the competition receives almost 50,000 entries from over 90 countries highlighting its enduring appeal. This year’s 100 award-winning images will embark on an international tour that will allow them to be seen by over a million people.

Head of Royal Pavilion & Museums Janita Bagshawe said:
“We are thrilled to be welcoming Wildlife Photographer of the Year to Brighton Museum & Art Gallery.
“This is an extremely popular exhibition which appeals to people of all ages. The images show nature at its most fascinating, exciting and thought-provoking. We hope it is going to be a huge attraction to visitors and residents this summer.”

Jan English, Head of Touring Exhibitions at the Natural History Museum, says
“Wildlife Photographer of the Year celebrates the very best nature photography, and it is consistently one of our most successful touring exhibitions, enjoyed by millions every year. These images tell thought-provoking stories about our planet that prompts us all to think differently about the natural world and the future we want to create.”

Alan,
Thanks for this.
The museum alone is worth the entry fee.
And you get a day at the seaside.

Are you suggesting a day out? I’ll have to dig out my bucket and spade…
