Here's the report of the Canal Group (Richard, David Bacon, Me and Jeremy-the-newbie)...

Cameras at the ready

A couple from Limehouse Basin (it's quite a long walk all the way round it).

Hi Chris,

Thank you for the photos and summary of the walk. Limehouse basin is deceptive in it's size, there's a fair bit to see.
Was good to see that a prospective new member turned up, hopefully he was intrigued to find out more.

Was the route interesting enough or did it need a bit more to see?
I'd like to try the route myself, might try September/October time, trains and other factors allowing.
Am considering the Lee Navigation to Regents canal cut as a walk for next year.

Only getting a faint line on my Covid test now, another day or two and I should be clear!

The photos look great so I hope you had a good outing.

I had my second negative result yesterday so hope to be out and about taking pictures soon 🙂

Hi Ian,

There was plenty to see on the walk.  It was, however, too hot for the preliminary walk around Limehouse basin.

We deviated from the canal at Mile End in search of a decent pub, but could not find one.    We stopped at The Victoria Pub after a long trudge through a desert landscape.  It's not on the canal but worth a detour - gatro prices though.

I think we missed about 1/2 mile of the canal with the detour.

It was a bit disappointing on the canal boat front.  There were no boats in motion!

Hi,

I do intend to do this walk myself, will try for late September or early October. Once I can pick a day without train strikes, I'll post the date here and if anyone wants to join in, they can.
