Last March saw the inaugural PDI competition between OPS and Rotoura Camera Club from New Zealand. We only lost by 5 marks but we did take Best Image and were also awarded another 20/20 (Honours) and one 19/20 (Highly Commended). For those of you who missed the results evening you can see the images on our website here.
This season we are the virtual ‘away’ team. RCC are running the competition and finding the independent judge. Last year we only had 8 members per side. This year there will be 16. That means every member of OPS who submitted to round 1 of the PDI 1 competition or has scored a certificate in the SLF PDI competition will be entered: Peter Humphrey ARPS Neil Hobday Alan Graham LRPS Alan Parkinson David Barnes LRPS Barrie Duffield LRPS Tracy Elvidge LRPS Chris Nash Yicheng Lu Richard Waterman David Grimwade LRPS Bob Mabberley Martin Adams David Jackson Chris Sawyer Malcolm Ming Ideally we want you to submit your best image. Remember these are PDI images and if a judge mentioned a slight change to improve them you should consider doing so. The selection committee may also make suggestions. I will announce the sizing and naming convention when RCC send me details. They do have a larger PDI format. Please start looking at which image you would like to submit plus a reserve ready for us to consider. I will say where to send them when I get the sizing from RCC. I will need to send our images to NZ by late January. We hope to have the competition images and result shown during our meeting on 21st March 2017. To give you a flavour of what we might be up against here is a link to their images that won Honours this season. Don't panic…

The link to the RCC Honours pages seems not to work. It will take you to their website, just click on the Gallery tab.

The images and results for the Rotorua Camera Club v OPS competition were revealed tonight. Twice the number of members took part than last year.
Rotorua won again but by a slightly less margin with our top 8 entries scoring more than theirs. Encouraging I hope. All 32 images can be seen on the website under Galleries/InterClub/Rotorua 2017 Four members from both clubs were awarded certificates. The OPS members were: Yicheng Lu 'Long Journey' Highly Commended Alan Graham LRPS 'I'm Watching' Highly Commended Neil Hobday 'Innocence 2' Commended Malcolm Ming 'Yes You!!' Commended Next years competition is hoped to take place as part of our 70th celebrations in March 2018.

Thanks very much to Alan for running this competition for a 2nd year. It's now 2-0 to the Kiwis. Is there nothing we can beat them at?
