SLF Finals Day will be held at St. John's Church Hall, Eden Park Avenue, Beckenham, BR3 3JN on Saturday 21st April 2018. Tickets cost £5. A poster for your members & noticeboard is attached.
Our judges this year are: Rachael Talibart, Jay Charnock FRPS and Don Morley. The competitions to be held are: · Inter-Club Finals: Alex Falk Trophy (colour prints) Holroyd Trophy (monochrome prints) Vic Smith Trophy (PDIs) · Certificate Winners Comps: KJP Trophy (colour prints) Owen Trophy (monochrome prints) Edwin Appleton Rose Bowl (PDIs) · Open Competitions: Punch Bowl (colour prints) Retina Cup (monochrome prints) Jack's Jug (PDIs) You should refer to the rules for each competition as stated in section 3 of the handbook which is on the SLF website at: http://www.fslps.org.uk/Competitions/CompsMain.htm . As usual, clubs that have not gained a certificate in a discipline in the current season can pick a 'Club Champion' from the top scoring work in their inter-club panel to enter into the Certificate Winners competition for that discipline (there is no fee for such entries). A full list of certificate winners and those eligible to pick Club Champions will be issued when all Plate Rounds & Semi-finals have been completed. This year, to encourage wider participation, there will be no fees to enter the Open Competitions. Up to two entries per author per competition. Note that all prints must be on 40 x 50 cm mounts - prints not conforming to this size will not be accepted. Also note that the re-use of images in more than one discipline in the Open Competitions is not allowed. Please ensure that prints are properly mounted with a backing board and use mounting tape (not masking tape!). All prints must have the print title, author, club and club reference letter clearly marked on the back (a list of club reference letters is attached to this email). A digital file (1400 x 1050 pixel resolution) must accompany ALL prints, including those in the Inter-club Finals & Certificate Winners Competitions. I All PDIs to be submitted in 1400 x 1050 pixel resolution. This year, digital files must be submitted by uploading them to PhotoEntry. The Finals Day PhotoEntry competitions will be available in February and details will be sent to Club Coordinators when they are available. The closing date for uploading digital files of entries is 25th February 2018. |
What is the club reference number to put on the back of the prints please? Also what is the latest hand in date?
|
Hi Peter
The club reference is "N", All prints must have the print title, author, club and club reference letter clearly marked on the back Standby with PDIs of your prints, details to follow after committee meeting tomorrow night Richard |
The physical prints have to be taken to the SLF Delegates meeting on 1 March. This is not the deadline. All prints need to be accompanied by a PDi which Richard will have to load into PhotoEntry so Richard will need to set a date that allows him time to upload PDIs.
I think physical prints will need to be collected by 20 February to allow time to be sorted into the various classes of competition. |

"Also note that the re-use of images in more than one discipline in the Open Competitions is not allowed."
Does this mean we cannot re-use images that we have put in for a PDI, Colour or a Mono Competition for instance? Do they have to be completly new images? George K-B |
George that rule is for our ‘in-house’ comps. The SLF is external so as long as they haven’t seen an image before you can use it.

SLF Finals day is 21 April. Any prints submitted in open competitions will not be available from 20 February to April 24. If you plan to enter a prints in OPS Finals and SLF open competitions you will need to make duplicate copies.

I have searched around and cannot find the naming convention for the PDIs for the Finals Day (for both prints and PDIs).
Last year it was 'Title_Orpington PS' (according to my records) Is this the same this year? |
The naming convention this year is that there is no convention. This means that Richard has even more work to do! All you need to do is to make sure that your PDIs have a name. RW has to provide your name to PhotoEntry.
